Background Music for Hotels in Ras Al Khaimah

Hotels are named in the Ministry’s guide, with annual licence fees from 1 December 2026. One subscription, every zone, all five commercial music rights.

Resort properties carry a music problem that city hotels largely avoid: the guest never leaves. Someone staying four nights in a city spends most of their waking hours elsewhere. Someone on a beach or mountain resort in RAK moves between the same eight or nine spaces for the duration — lobby, breakfast room, pool, beach bar, spa, evening restaurant, terrace — and hears whatever is playing in each of them, repeatedly.

Repetition is therefore the defining risk. A library that sounds generous on a first pass sounds thin by day three, and the guest who notices is the one who was relaxing.

Depth, zoning and daypart

We build resort programmes for depth first: enough material across each zone that a week-long stay never doubles back on itself, and enough distinction between zones that moving from the pool to the terrace registers as a change of setting.

Each zone is then scheduled against its own hours. Pool and beach run to daylight and heat. Evening dining shifts deliberately at service. Spas run to something else entirely, and lobbies carry arrival, afternoon and night as three different rooms.

Everything is scheduled centrally and updated remotely. For the full business case, see background music for hotels in the UAE.

Specifying for a pre-opening property

With a substantial development pipeline still to open here, a number of RAK properties will be commissioning music systems in the months around the December deadline. Handling licensing at specification rather than afterwards means the compliance position is settled before the first guest arrives, and the programme is built alongside the AV design rather than retrofitted to it.

MUSICVYBE has programmed music for hotel groups across Asia-Pacific for more than two decades, including Fairmont Singapore, Swissôtel The Stamford, Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Oakwood Premier, ParkRoyal Penang and Wyndham Singapore. In the UAE, we previously provided the music programme for Raffles Dubai.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do RAK hotels need a music licence from December 2026?+

Yes. Hotels are among the sectors named in the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s Collective Management in Music Guide, with annual licence fees applying from 1 December 2026 across the UAE. Brackets are set by the nature and size of the business and by how music is used.

Our property is still in fit-out. When should we address this?+

At specification, alongside the AV design. Settling the music and licensing position before opening avoids a retrofit later and means the programme is built into the property rather than added once the operating team has inherited it.

Do our restaurants fall under the hotel’s licence?+

Because fees scale with the nature and size of the business, properties with multiple food and beverage outlets should establish their position outlet by outlet when applying. A completed zone inventory makes that conversation considerably shorter.

Can one arrangement cover properties in other emirates and countries?+

Yes. Our licences are held directly with the IP owners and carry global rights, so the same subscription covers properties in any market without separate arrangements with each country’s collecting societies.
