Background Music for Hotels in Abu Dhabi
Hotels are named in the Ministry’s guide, with annual licence fees from 1 December 2026. One subscription, every zone, all five commercial music rights.
Abu Dhabi hotels carry a split personality that few markets impose so sharply. The same property can run a Sunday-to-Thursday corporate occupancy driven by government and energy-sector business, then fill on a weekend with leisure guests drawn to Saadiyat Island‘s cultural district or an event at Yas.
Those two guests want noticeably different things from a lobby. A delegation arriving at seven on a Monday morning and a family checking in for a race weekend are not served by the same programme, and a property that plays one profile all week is quietly wrong for half its business.
Zones, dayparts and weekparts
We programme a hotel as a set of zones and schedule each against its own trading pattern — and in Abu Dhabi that means weekpart as much as daypart. Lobby music can carry a corporate register midweek and shift on a Thursday evening. Restaurants follow their own service pattern rather than the hotel’s. Pool decks run to daylight and heat; spas run to something else entirely.
Everything is scheduled centrally and updated remotely, so no duty manager is choosing tracks mid-service and no general manager is fielding music complaints traceable to whoever was on shift.

Hospitality experience
MUSICVYBE has programmed music for hotel groups across Asia-Pacific for more than two decades, including Fairmont Singapore, Swissôtel The Stamford, Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Oakwood Premier, ParkRoyal Penang, Wyndham Singapore and Furama RiverFront. In the UAE, we previously provided the music programme for Raffles Dubai.
Where properties consolidate several partial arrangements into one directly licensed subscription the saving tends to be material: Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford together reduced annual licensing costs by over SGD 43,000.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Abu Dhabi hotels need a music licence from December 2026?+
Yes. Hotels are among the sectors named in the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s Collective Management in Music Guide, with annual licence fees applying from 1 December 2026 across the UAE. Brackets are set by the nature and size of the business and by how music is used.
Do our restaurants fall under the hotel’s licence?+
Because fees scale with the nature and size of the business, properties with multiple food and beverage outlets should establish their position outlet by outlet when applying. A completed zone inventory makes that conversation considerably shorter.
What about live music during event weekends?+
Live music and DJ performances generally attract higher fees than recorded background music under the published framework, and concerts and similar events are addressed separately. Properties running event programming should treat it as a distinct line from background music.
Can one arrangement cover properties in other emirates and countries?+
Yes. Our licences are held directly with the IP owners and carry global rights, so the same subscription covers properties in any market without separate arrangements with each country’s collecting societies.
