Background Music for Hotels in Dubai
Hotels are named in the Ministry’s guide, with annual licence fees from 1 December 2026. One subscription, every zone, all five commercial music rights.
Dubai’s hotel estate spans a wider range than almost any comparable city: resort properties along Palm Jumeirah and the Jumeirah beachfront, business hotels clustered around Sheikh Zayed Road and Business Bay, and long-established stock across Deira and Bur Dubai that has been trading since well before the Marina existed. A beach resort and a Deira business hotel are the same sector on a rate card and completely different music problems in practice.
The seasonal swing sharpens it further. A property running at capacity through the winter months and considerably quieter in high summer needs programming that acknowledges both, rather than a single profile that flatters neither.
Zones, not a building
We programme a hotel as a set of zones and schedule each against the hours it actually trades. Lobby music moves through arrival, afternoon and evening. Restaurants follow their own service pattern rather than the hotel’s. Pool decks run to daylight and heat rather than to the clock. Spas run to a different logic entirely, and corridors sit quietly underneath all of it.
Scheduling is central and updates are remote, so a duty manager is never choosing tracks mid-service and a general manager is never fielding music complaints that trace back to whoever was on shift.

Hospitality experience
MUSICVYBE has programmed music for hotel groups across Asia-Pacific for more than two decades, including Fairmont Singapore, Swissôtel The Stamford, Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Oakwood Premier, ParkRoyal Penang and Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore. In Dubai, we previously provided the music programme for Raffles Dubai.
Where properties consolidate several partial arrangements into one directly licensed subscription, the saving tends to be material: Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford together reduced annual licensing costs by over SGD 43,000.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Dubai hotels need a music licence from December 2026?+
Yes. Hotels are among the sectors named in the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s Collective Management in Music Guide, with annual licence fees applying from 1 December 2026 across the UAE. Fee brackets are set by the nature and size of the business and by how music is used.
Are the hotel’s restaurants covered by the hotel’s licence?+
Because fees scale with the nature and size of the business, properties with multiple food and beverage outlets should establish their position outlet by outlet when applying. A completed zone inventory makes that process considerably faster.
What about live music in the bar or at the pool?+
Live music and DJ performances generally attract higher fees than recorded background music under the published framework. Properties running regular live programming should treat it as a separate line from their background music arrangement.
Can one arrangement cover our properties in other countries?+
Yes. Our licences are held directly with the IP owners and carry global rights, so the same subscription covers properties in any market without separate arrangements with each country’s collecting societies.
